Kevin Malone, named “The Best General Manager in the Game” in 1995, retired from professional baseball in 2001 after an illustrious 17 year career in which his teams earned a World Championship and several trips to the post-season. Major League Baseball Hall of Fame General Manager Pat Gillick stated the following about Kevin Malone, “he is a dedicated, loyal, hard-working guy who was also a visionary. He always had something on his mind to make us (the Baltimore Orioles) better. He was not only loyal, but he was somebody who pushed the people around him to be better.” Kevin Malone is known as a “rebuilder” and “turn-around specialist.” His attention to detail, team building skills, management expertise and well known work ethic helped him in restoring three different franchises to prominence by restructuring the organization and restoring their respective farm systems through scouting and player development. Kevin Malone is an experienced winner who knows what it takes to run a successful Major League franchise and has the innate ability to effectively communicate and execute his formula.

Kevin Malone played baseball at the University of Louisville, and, in 1980, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Justice Administration. Drafted by the Cleveland Indians, Kevin Malone played one season at Batavia in the NY-Penn League. In 1985, after working towards his Master’s Degree in Theology at Tennessee Temple Theological Seminary, Kevin Malone joined the California Angels as part of the scouting and player development team. After three years with the Angels, Kevin Malone went to the Montreal Expos for one year. In 1989, he was named the East Coast Scouting Supervisor for the Minnesota Twins. From 1989-1991, Kevin Malone remained in his position with the Twins and was also assigned to be an Advance Scout for the playoffs covering the Atlanta Braves in preparation for one of the most exciting World Series ever played. Kevin Malone left the Twins with a Championship Ring and went back to Montreal as Director of Scouting from 1992-1993.

The Expos rewarded Kevin Malone for his efforts in 1994, when he was named General Manager. Under Kevin Malone’s guidance and direction, the Expos rose to national prominence and, in the strike shortened season, the Expos finished with the best record in Major League Baseball at 74-40. In 1996, Kevin Malone was named the Assistant General Manager of the Baltimore Orioles. With Pat Gillick as the General Manager, Kevin Malone helped assemble a club that advanced to the American League Championship Series in both 1996 and 1997. In 1996, Kevin Malone was inducted into the University of Louisville Athletic Hall of Fame and, in 1997, was presented with the Order of Achievement Award. In 2001, Kevin Malone retired from professional baseball after three years as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since retiring, Kevin Malone worked for Sporting News Radio and Fox Sports (Network Baseball Analyst) and ESPN’s Baseball Tonight (Network Trade Analyst). After completing three years of serving at The Master’s College in Los Angeles, Kevin Malone, in 2005, began a start-up business venture as an owner of the new Mercedes-Benz of Valencia dealership in Los Angeles.

Kevin Malone is actively involved in numerous ministry and charitable organizations including; L.A. Dream Center, FL. Dream Center, Inner City Visions (providing gang communities help), Hope for Israel, Rock Against Trafficking and CARE 18 LA. A man of varied interests, he was Executive Producer on two films: “Like Dandelion Dust” and “Faith of Our Fathers.” Kevin Malone’s full-time focus is fighting human trafficking in L.A., Florida and internationally. He resides near the beach west of Los Angeles, and has been married to Marilyn for 32 years. They have two adult children, Shannon and Shawn.
